About Us

Hey there! Laurie Albert here, founder + owner of Lar’s Pet Services!

Although I’m originally from a small town near Charlotte, NC (bonus points if you’ve ever heard of Norwood), I moved to Charleston in 2018 to attend undergrad at the College of Charleston. My four years were filled with earning my Communication BA, running DI cross country/track and field, leading campus tours to prospective students, maintaining my 4.0 GPA, + so much more! All the while, I decided to make time for another passion of mine: pets!

As someone who grew up with anywhere between 2-5 pets in the household at all times…I am a natural animal lover! I began caring for pets in the Charleston, SC area back during university, as I worked for various pet service companies (both local + national). Now, with several years under my belt, I have noticed a few gaps in the pet services industry, + I’m on a mission to make sure every owner + furry friend gets the 5-star care they deserve! Alongside building LPS, fast forward + I have earned both my BA + MA in Communication from the College of Charleston, with one final year left of my PhD in Communication from the University of Kentucky! I have enjoyed being able to combine these two loves for lifelong learning + pets by continuing to grow this business alongside my studies.

As a pet owner myself now, I value clear communication + personalized care more than anything. Forty, our sweet 3yo mini golden doodle, deserves the world + so do your pets! I know how much I appreciate receiving updates on how he is doing + being able to trust he is in great hands. P.S. Extra extra bonus points if you ask us about his name :)

      Upgrade to a 60 min Drop-in Visit starting at $50

    • 30 min visits typically include a customizable combination of the following:

      • Indoor/outdoor play time

      • Feeding

      • Short potty break/walk

    • Starting at $50

    • 60 min visits typically include a customizable combination of the following:

      • Extended indoor/outdoor play time

      • Feeding

      • Extended potty break/walk

    • Starting at $35

      Upgrade to a 60 min Dog Walk starting at $60

    • Includes a FULL 30 min, outdoor walk for your pup!

      • Exceptions to extreme heat, stormy weather, etc. left up to discretion of walker (in these cases, we substitute indoor play time!)

    • Starting at $60

    • Includes a FULL 60 min, outdoor walk for your pup!

      • Exceptions to extreme heat, stormy weather, etc. left up to discretion of walker (in these cases, we substitute indoor play time!)

      • $100 / day for first dog

      • $75 / day for each additional dog

      • $50 / day for each cat

    • Includes overnight sitting in the pet owner’s home!

      • Basic care included in daily prices:

        • Sleeping at home overnight

        • Not leaving pets longer than instructed (typical is no more than 6 hours)

        • Potty breaks/short walks

    • Request for more than 1 extended walk per day

    • Extensive medication administration

    • Puppy rate

    • Holiday rates

      • $50 / hr

    • Includes full-time “nanny” care for the pets

      • Basic care included in hourly prices:

        • Staying on-site for the entirety of the requested visit

        • Ideal for injured/ill pets or puppies that require more supervision

        • Potty breaks/short walks

        • Feeding

        • Basic medication

Currently, my parents have two dogs (thankfully just right down the road from me, so I can visit whenever I want)!
